We are back at Bend/Sunriver TTN after a very enjoyable week out at Prineville Reservoir with our friends Larry & Jeannie.
We parked next to their home which is only a couple of hundred yards from the beach of this lake.  They were very good hosts.  We spent one day at the beach & on the water using their SeaDoo.  It was a lot of fun & a first for both Barbara & I to ride & drive a jet ski.
Another day Larry launched their boat & gave us a very nice tour of the lake.
We have been playing pickleball most mornings & enjoying the pool & hot tub.  The weather has been very nice, both at Prineville Reservoir & here at Sunriver.  Not too hot during the day & not too cold overnight.
We are starting to get very anxious for the next step of our walkabout.  Next week we go to Junction City to pick up our new 5th wheel trailer.  We are looking forward to the extra room we will have.  At the same time we are kind of sad to be trading in our Sprinter travel trailer that we have had for the last 10 years.  We have pulled it many miles & spent a lot of time in it.
Our shake down trip with the new coach will be to Cave Junction, OR to see Marie & Bill.  It will be an interesting drive with the new Ram truck pulling the new Big Country 5ver.
pictures of Fort Rock, seems global warming happened over 6 thousand years ago, Indians probably making too many sage bark sandals.

We took a road trip in the new truck to see the tuff ring known as Fort Rock east of LaPine, OR.
A tuff ring is formed by volcanic eruptions under a deep lake.  The "experts" say this salt water lake was over 180 feet deep.  After the ring formed the lake level lowered & the wave action broke down one side.  I will have some pictures to add in a few days when we have a better cell connection.
Also, in the small town of Fort Rock there is a Homesteaders Museum.  The local historical society has brought in homesteader houses, cabins, a schoolhouse, a church & the general store & restored them.  These buildings were built between 1912 & 1918 & have all been restored since 1988.  Pictures to follow.
On our way back to Sunriver we found several geocaches.  It was a very enjoyable trip.

We have been enjoying our stay here at Bend/Sunriver TTN.  There are a lot of pickleball players coming & going.  Unfortunately my serve (which was never very good) has decided to go on vacation.  I will have to practice on that.
Last Wednesday we decided to go to Bend & begin the process of mfinding a new truck.  We have had our 2001 Dodge Ram since December 2000 & we felt it was time to get a new truck as we will be getting a bigger trailer, more on that later.  We met a very nice young salesman at the Ram Dealership & explained our situation.  Jesse said he could help us find what we wanted.  We sat down with him & did a build of our ideal truck.  Jesse then did a search of the database & said there were none available with everything we wanted.  Being a good salesman, he then showed us several models they had on the lot with much more in the way of options that they wanted to sell.  We got some prices & went home.
The next day, Thursday, I went back & told Jesse that I did not want to spend more than what my build truck would cost.  He talked to the sales manager & we were able to come to a tentative agreement on price.  Again, I went home to discuss the deal with Barbara.
Friday we went in & signed the papers to get our new truck.  It has many upgrades & options that I would not have ordered but we feel most of them were discounted or not charged to us in the final price.  The truck did not have running boards or a spay in bedliner so we left the truck with the dealer until Tuesday to have those installed.
Tuesday we went in to trade our old V10 Dodge Ram 2500 for our new 6.7L Cummins diesel, 6speed automatic transmission, Ram 3500 crew cab.  It was kind of sad leaving the old Dodge.  We had it for a long time & had 98000 miles on it.

As far as the trailer aspect goes, we have ordered a 2012 Big Country 3650RL by Heartland from a dealership in Junction City, OR that we will pick up after August 24.  Barbara will have a new "home" to go along with my new truck.
