Let me tell you about my new friend, Richard. When we were in Grants Pass last month we purchased a TomTom GPS at Radio Shack. If you are familiar with GPS units you know that you have a list of voices to give you instructions as you travel. I have selected Richard as the voice that gives me those instructions.
We left Seaside on July 12 & Richard gave me directions to get on Hwy 26 to Portland. We have been over this portion of Hwy 26 before so I was comfortable with the directions given.
Our destination was Mt. Hood Village, an Encore Resort near Welches, OR, which is on Hwy 26 east of Portland. Into Portland & out the east side was new to me so Richard was my navigator. As we got into Portland freeway traffic Richard would tell me "take the next exit right & stay in the right lane" or "take the next exit right & bear to the left". This was working fine & Barbara was following closely in the Ford Focus (she says she feels like a remora fish following a shark).
Anyway, we are exiting right staying right & exiting right bearing left & I realize that none of the Hwy signs say anything about Hwy 26. I figure Richard knows what he is doing & call Barbara on the walkie-talkie to tell her we are in Richard's hands because I am totally lost. She says she has been lost for quite awhile so she will follow.
Long story short, Richard got us off the freeway & connected to Hwy 26 in Gresham & brought us right to the gate of Mt. Hood Village Resort.
We like having Richard along on our Walkabout as navigator. So our merry band includes Barbara, Wayne Benji & Richard.
