#11 July 26
We spent our week at Mt Hood Village & saw a lot of wet weather but we got out & about to see somethings.
We drove into Sandy, OR & Barbara Found a yarn shop & a quilt shop to browse in & get some ideas for new projects.
We drove to Government Camp, OR & went through the Museum & Cultural Center. We found out about the "Barlow Road" which was an important part of the Oregon Trail. There is no cost for the museum.
We also went to Rhododendron, OR to see a display of a quilt collection. Some of the quilts had actually been brought to Oregon over the Oregon Trail. The quilts were made from the mid 1800's to the 1940's. While we were at the quilt show they were having music provided by 2 men playing native american flutes & another man playing the guitar. I talked to Tony & Randy, the flute players, & got some information on flute circles & flute festivals. We may be able to go to some of these on our walkabout.
On our way from Mt Hood Village to Bend/ Sunriver we stopped at the Warm Springs Museum & Cultural Center in Warm Springs, OR. The tribes have a very nice museum that is well worth the time & price to see.
We came on to Bend/Sunriver TTN & found a very nice spot for our 3 week stay. Now we are playing pickleball & yesterday we went to the pool to try water aerobics for the first time. Quite a workout.
The weather here has been very nice. Mostly sunny with afternoon clouds, temps in the 70's most days & 40's at night.
